What I do at citizenM

In my role, I am responsible for driving employer branding and recruitment initiatives for both hotel and office talent acquisition. As a dynamic, global talent acquisition team, we are always in the hunt for awesome talent and get energy out of connecting with people.

We strive to ensure the lived experience of citizenM's culture & values are consistently integrated into all aspects of the candidate journey. 

Who am I?

Originally from Scotland, I now live in Amsterdam and prior to that I was in London. 

It is now my eleventh year at citizenM. When I started we only has four hotels and since then I have had more roles than years in the company. 

I started my journey as an ambassador in our London Bankside hotel and have since worked across our hotel operations in several roles in London, Taipei and Amsterdam. 

Coming from a branding and marketing background, I fell into hospitality yet have found a place where I can truly let my travels travels and be the best version of myself.

Advice for prospective candidates

Be yourself and be prepared with some questions. We see recruitment at citizenM as being a bit like dating, is needs to be a match for both. 

I always look for people who;

- speak up and ask those real burning questions
- show curiosity and understanding
- demonstrate passion and care for their craft
- go to the root cause of problems & take responsibility
